Summary: A lady was getting a sick feeling just knowing that the person that abused her was getting out of jail early. He raped her and also beat her up badly. The guy that abused her was only 31 years old and his name is Filemon Arreola. He was sentenced to be in jail in Oregon during the year of 2007. He was charged with a rape, assault, coercion and tampering with a witness charge. His sentention ends November 2022. She didn't think it was right for them to take off time this man's sentence time because she's scared and she even let CNN spill out her name to the public so the public can hear her words. A lot of states are doing that this year. They are releasing prisoners early because either the jails are getting too over-packed or they want to save up money for financial state causes. For example Oregon is taking off 30% off their time instead of 20% for good behavior to save up money. By realeasing 1,000 immates they are saving up $5 million dollars. In Colorado they are taking off 12 days per month for each month they act good. In California the jails are up to 40,000 prisoners so Governor Schwarzenegger is thinking about realeasing 27,000 good prisoners that have been behaving out. They were thinking all the states if they should really have the necessarity of having all these jail prisoners in jail for so long? They are only going to release the prisoners that have "low-risk" or "non-violent" crimes charged on their records. By realising 8,000 prisoners Kentucky will be saving $21.4 million. Lets just see how many prisoners are gonna be let out next year.
Opinion: I don't think they should let so many prisoners out, even if they were being good they shouldn't because that's how we have so many crimes out there in this world. They should only let the prisoners with minor charges out. They shouldn't let sex-abusers or sex-predators out because than they are going to most likely get out and rape other people and possibly kill the person who put them in jail for revenge. Most prisoners plan revenge for whenever they get out they can just go out and kill people.
Summary: A family went missing and they had said everyone came back except the young mother. THey haven't heard of her since Monday as the investigators in Utah had said. The young mother's husband and their two small children came back home on Tuesday after they had spend two days camping in a remote part of the state. Her husband had also said that he hasn't seen his wife since Sunday night and that she's been missing ever since. He has been trying to contact friends and family members and no one has seen her. He said it wasn't normal for her to leave like that, without telling anyone where she was heading. The family doesn't know where she went. They don't know if she left on her own, they just don't know anything at all. MchLachlan said that she didn't check into work that day or take her 4 and 1-year old sons to day-care that day either. They had called home and then they began the investigation. They had found the car gone and all the doors locked. The police had said that Mr. Powell stated his returned home with the children on Tuesday and that they had camped about 120-130 miles away. They found it not normal for the family to go camping in the type of weather their is right now. He also added that the temperature was really cold at night and that it dropped to even below zero. They didn't consider Mr. Powell a suspect but they did have to interrogate him because he was the missing wife's husband. They had also interviewed the couple's 4-year old son, but they were careful while interviewing him due to his age. They still have not yet found her.
Opinion: I find their camping trip a bit unsual due to the type of weather there is right now. I think also that the wife went missing during the camping trip. She might have probably even went missing on their return. She probably got kidnapped going somewhere after they had got back home. I don't think the husband has anything to do with this because if he did than he wouldn't have been so cooperative about all this and he would of denied everything. I bet their 4-year old son is devistated knowing his mother is missing at the moment. What the police needs to do is put missing signs out there and also contact the other police departments out there. I really hope that they find this missing lady.
Summary: The main suspect that was accused of the gay teenager in Puerto Rico went to court on Wednesday and was charged with first-degree murder. Juan A. Martinez was the guy arrested for that case. He got arrested on Monday with the connection of the slaying of Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado. They basically found his body on a road in central Puerto Rico all burned up on Friday afternoon. The prosecutor Yaritza Carrasquillo said he was charged with 3 weapon violations and one of them counted for hiding the weapon. The prosecutors are still trying to see if they are gonna charge Martinez Matos under federal hate crimes law. The U.S. gay community was suggesting to the authorities that they should do an investigation to see if Martinez killed the gay teen for him being gay. The U.S. Attorney was the one that was gonna decide if the crime was a "hate crime." The authorities are also investigating if the killing also involved sex. On air during a live footage for Telemundo-Puerto Rico, Martinez Matos was asked if he was gay and he responded by saying no and by also adding that Lopez Mercado tried to kill him. He had also said that he had picked up the teenage boy up from the street also thinking he was a woman. The Federal Hate Crime was enacted in 1969. It was enacted to protect the rights of any U.S. citizen who is targeted because of race, color, religion etc. If Martinez Matos does get charged under the hate crimes provision it is going to be first case like that under that new law.
My Opinion: I think that this article was good and that I thought Martinez was lying when he said that the young gay teenager tried to kill him. I think this event is gonna be important in the future because like it says in the last line of my summary, "If Martinez Matos does get charged under the hate crimes provision it is going to be first case like that under that new law." It means that this case is gonna be remembered in the future because it was the first.
Summary: It all happend in Madison, Wisconsin. The authrities have been investigating a lot of shootings that killed about four people in Dane County. They were trying to also re-search who was in charge of all those killings and who might be the dangerous person for the case. The police comes to the conclusion that the shootings in Madison and Middleton might have something to do with each other. The investigator had said that a mother and her daughter had gotten shot in a fatal gunshot wounds and they recieved several injuries. There was also another killing that made the cops act and start treating the deaths as a double homicide. A neighbor of one of the people that got killed had said that she had seen lights flashing in the windows and that they had carried a child in a gurney in the ambulance and then they had left. That neighbor had also said she had moved her son somewhere else so that he could avoid all the violence that was going around in this area. The police had said that these deaths were believed to be connected somehow with the other 2 deaths that had been discovered on that Thursday evening in Middleton, Wisconsin. The police from Middleton, Wisconsin had also said that they had recieved this call around 8:31 pm and they had said that a vehicle which had been thought had feel related to the shooting on Park Edge Drive had been found. They had said that 2 of the bodies were found already dead in the car and had been injured majorly with gunshots. Those 2 victims were a mother and possibly her child. The car found had been taken into investigation with the bodies also still inside of it. The police began searching for the major suspsect of all these cases which was a 38-year old man named Tyrone M. Adair. They are still investigating and they don't believe all this is a random act.
My Opinion: My opinion to this article is rare. I feel like people shouldn't be so harsh upon each other. I'm still also wondering why would this man kill so many people. I'm pretty sure he was the criminal of these killings. I also feel bad for all the people that live around there because like some people are terrified of sending their kids out in the street alone. Most of time parents probably even have to be dropping off their kids at school and places and also picking them up. It wouldn't be nice living somewhere where you are terrified of your surroundings.
